What Evidence Act Section 145 covered
Allows a witness to be cross-examined on previous statements made in writing without showing the writing. If it is intended to contradict the witness by the writing, attention must first be drawn to the parts to be used.

The BSA applies from 1 July 2024. Under Section 170 of the BSA, an application, trial, inquiry, investigation, proceeding or appeal that was pending immediately before that date continues to be governed by the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
