Settl features
Client portal and client updates for Indian law firms
Most client calls ask the same thing: what happened and when is the next date. Settl gives each client a private view of their own case and lets you send updates that are recorded against the matter.
What the client portal does
A private view for each client
Clients sign in to see the status of their own case, its hearing dates and the documents you have chosen to share. They do not see the rest of the firm's file.
Selective document sharing
Decide document by document what a client can see. Internal notes, tasks and billing stay inside the firm workspace.
Updates by email, SMS or WhatsApp
Send case-linked updates, with attachments where needed, through the channels that are configured for your firm and for which the client's consent is recorded.
Messages on the record
Messages exchanged with the client are kept with the matter, so the firm has a record of what was communicated and when.
Client intake
Capture a new client's details and the facts of the matter through a guided intake, so the file starts complete.
Free client seats
Client logins do not count as billable seats.
How it works
Add the client to the matter
Invite the client by email from the case.
Choose what to share
Mark the documents the client may see.
Send updates after each hearing
Send a short update with the next date, and it is logged on the matter.
Let the client check for themselves
The client signs in to see status, dates and shared documents.
Plans and limits
Client intake and the portal are included from the Starter plan. Delivery by SMS or WhatsApp depends on those channels being configured and on the client's recorded consent.
Client portal: common questions
What can a client see in the portal?
Only their own case status, hearing dates and the documents you choose to share. Internal notes, tasks, billing and other clients' matters are not visible to them.
Do clients need a paid seat?
No. Client seats are free. Only firm roles such as owner, admin, lawyer and paralegal count as billable seats.
Is client consent recorded for WhatsApp updates?
Yes. Updates by WhatsApp are sent where delivery is configured and the client's consent has been recorded on the matter.
