Settl features
Court diary software for Indian advocates and law firms
Settl replaces the paper diary and the shared spreadsheet with one court diary for the whole firm. Every hearing and deadline is tied to its matter file, so the next date, the last order and the task that follows are in the same place.
What the court diary does
Firm-wide hearing list
See upcoming hearings across all your cases in one view, so a partner can check tomorrow's board and a colleague can cover a matter when someone is away.
Hearing notes on the case
Record what happened at each hearing on the matter itself. The history of dates and notes stays with the case rather than in one person's diary.
Legal calendar
Add hearings, meetings and deadlines to a calendar, link them to a matter, and set rules that compute a deadline automatically from a trigger event, counting business days where needed.
Limitation tracking
Record the limitation date for a matter, starting from presets drawn from the Limitation Act, 1963 and common special statutes, and see it flagged as it approaches.
Cause list import
With Court Watch, import a cause list as a PDF or CSV, match its entries to your matters, and approve proposed hearing updates before they are applied.
Daily brief
Firms with matters due receive a morning brief by email summarising what is listed.
How it works
Open the matter
Create the case with its court, case number and parties.
Add the next date
Enter the hearing and any deadline that flows from it.
Update after the hearing
Record the note and the next date before leaving court.
Review the firm's week
Check the diary and calendar for hearings and deadlines across the team.
Plans and limits
Court dates in Settl are accurate when you or your team update the record after each hearing. Settl does not automatically synchronise every court's docket. Court deadline tracking is included from the Starter plan; limitation period alerts are part of the Professional plan.
Court diary: common questions
Does Settl pull hearing dates from eCourts automatically?
No. You record hearing dates on the matter, or import a cause list and approve the proposed updates. Settl does not automatically synchronise every court's docket, so confirm important dates from the court's cause list.
Can juniors and clerks update the diary?
Yes. Team members with access to a matter can add hearings and notes. Roles control what each person can see, and changes are recorded in the matter's history.
Can clients see their hearing dates?
Clients can be given access to a portal that shows their own case status and hearing dates, and the documents you choose to share.
